We are delighted to announce a research collaboration between Orange Labs UK (Orange) and the Information Security Group Smart Card Centre (SCC) at Royal Holloway University of London. Orange has become a Member of the SCC and committed significant funding to the core research programme for at least the next three years. Orange will also be the main sponsor of the SCC Open Day exhibition on the 6th September 2011. The collaboration is by no means just about funding as Orange Labs has a wealth of expertise and influence, and is already providing expert lecturers for the SCC MSc module as well as suggesting MSc projects and offering student internships. A sponsored PhD post will be offered in 2011, jointly supported by the SCC and Orange.

Quotes:

Keith Mayes, Director of the SCC

“The research collaboration with Orange Labs is very exciting and just ticks all the boxes. They have a lot of experts and access to latest technology; they are also actively engaged with our projects and students who they see as potential employees of the future. The added bonus is that Orange Labs is just along the road in Chiswick.”

Francois-Xavier Lecarpentier. CTO Orange Labs UK

“We are pleased to be able to collaborate with the SCC and be associated with its reputation and activities. The SCC is a good match for some of our industry research objectives and it is very useful to have a local source of such well qualified students. I am looking forward to building on the relationship over the coming years.”
