Interfacing with novice or expert users, visualizations play a crucial role. Perceptual and cognitive visualizations develop the visuals that communicate the information to its intended audience in a personalized and targeted manner. In such a visualizations, the visuals should be intuitive and the target audience should be able to comprehend without exerting any effort. The visuals can become adaptive, depending upon who is looking at them. The objective of such a research thread is to increase the productivity and effectiveness of infrastructure (including security and privacy) monitoring facilities and their staff. An alarm or threat in progress identification, categorization and respective mitigations in a human-machine coupling require a perception and cognitive visualizations technique – which this research thread is trying to achieve by bring together researchers in the field of UX design, security practitioners and psychology (neuro-psychology) professionals.
