Another Successful Open-Day for the ISG Smart Card Centre, Royal Holloway University of London
The Information Security Group (ISG) Smart Card Centre (SCC) celebrated its 13th anniversary on the 2nd September 2015. Exhibiting at the Open-Day were 14 industry exhibitors and 20 SCC students, and they were joined by record numbers of visitors. The Crisp event prizes went to PhD student Iakovos Gurulian for his poster Consumer-Centric Android Application Repackaging Detection and to MULTOS for its personalisation and control demos for apps, smart meters and cars.
There were a number of short industry presentations showing the real world relevance of the SCC research area and training activities, rounded off by a guest lecture from ProfessorSujeet Shenoi of the University of Tulsa, USA.
A special prize in memory of Stuart Atwood was awarded by MULTOS to MSc student Shreya Singh for her work on Secure Authentication in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANET). (More information is available from the MULTOS website here).

“The SCC Open Day was once again a great success and it was good to see some new companies and sponsors alongside our established friends. The students were terrific of course, not only exhibiting, but handling much of the event organisation. Anyone looking at the student posters will have seen how our activities are evolving with technological advance and whilst we have a few “real” smart card projects, these days the emphasis is more on NFC/RFID, as well as other forms of embedded and implementation security, and related systems and processes. A highlight for me was the guest lecture from Professor Shenoi on Invasive Forensics, which brought a great day to a close”
